The ideal marble for large spaces
One of the most difficult issues for the use of marble appears when intended to be installed in big spaces with heavy traffic:
The usual sedimentary stone may suffer when subjected to a big pressure of thousands of pedestrian walking, causing breaks, fissures or wear and tiring that affects to the installation, obliging to a maintenance work, constant replacements…
Anyway in Spain it is quarried a stone whose characteristics made it ideal for big spaces with heavy traffic. We are talking about the SNAKESKIN MARBLE.
This marble, named in Spain Beiserpiente, is a rock of breccia type, composed by swirls of brown colors varying from light greys to matt browns, fine grain and very compact. The quarry is located in Murcia (Spain).
This material is very strong (almost no open lines or holes needing to be filled) and provides a glossy appearance (mirror finish) that stands over time. And this hardness is due to its composition (dolomite instead of limestone).
These characteristics made the Snakeskin marble very useful for big spaces such as commercial malls, airports, bus or train stations, hotels or hospitality resorts, public buildings..
